Mientras respondía a mis preguntas Giselle miraba de vez en cuando el reloj, no estaba desesperada, imposible en un personaje tan calmado como ella, pero sabía que el tiempo corría y que aun le faltaban muchas cosas por hacer en las 14 horas que le quedaban en Barcelona.Sus respuestas eran claras, concisas, marcadas por la nostalgia y el recuerdo. No es fácil decir adiós al lugar donde viviste 11 años.No fue posible en un par de horas de rápida entrevista captar todas sus experiencias pero si que fue posible captar toda la fuerza de una larga estancia fuera de su tierra, una larga estancia siendo inmigrante.

Con este capítulo doy inicio a la serie documental Habitantes de Babel, (micro)relatos de inmigración. La idea es mostrar las mil y una historias que vivimos los inmigrantes, las vivencias, los problemas y las alegrías. Con habitantes de Babel, no se pretende contar ni triunfos magnificados ni perdidas exageradas sino simples historias de vida, fragmentos de existencia que nos permitan descubrir y describir procesos y conocer el qué, cómo, cuando y donde de toda esa vivencia.

Aprovecho para dar las gracias a todos aquellos que hicieron posible este inicio: Freddy Vargas en el diseño gráfico y Ana Vallejo y Margarita López en la traducción.

De igual forma quiero agradecer el valioso aporte de Joan Planas, Gonzalo Martín, Xavier Muñoz, Roger Casas, Juan David Escobar, Paola Vargas y Julián Ortega quienes con el feedback ofrecido a la muestra previa del primer episodio me permitieron mejorar muchos aspectos que desde adentro a veces se nos pasan.

Así funciona, La historia de los inmigrantes la tenemos que contar los mismo inmigrantes…

While responding to my questions Giselle watched from time to time the clock, she wasn’t desperate, impossible in such a calm down character as her, but she knew that time was running and even missing a lot of things to do in the 14 hours that she remained in Barcelona.

Their responses were clear, concise, marked by remembrances. It is not easy to say goodbye to the place where you lived 11 years.

It wasn’t possible in a couple of hours of fast interview to capture all their experiences but it was possible to capture the full force of a long stay away from their land, a long stay being an immigrant.

With this chapter, I start to the documentary series Inhabitants of Babel: (micro) stories of immigration. The idea is to show a thousand and one stories that we live as immigrants, the experiences, problems and joys. With inhabitants of Babel, is not intended to tell stories of triumphs and magnified or lost but merely exacerbated life stories, fragments of existence that will allow us to discover processes and know the what, how, when and where of all this experiences.

I take this opportunity to thanks all those who made this possible start: Freddy Vargas on the graphic design and Ana Vallejo and Margarita Lopez in translation.
